The EULAR–OMERACT rheumatoid arthritis MRI reference image atlas has been devised as a tool for improving assessment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) joints using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The atlas is based on the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology Clinical Trials (OMERACT) RA MRI scoring system (RAMRIS).

On behalf of the development group, we would like to sincerely thank the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) for financing this publication. Furthermore, we gratefully acknowledge the OMERACT Steering Committee (M Boers, P Brooks, L Simon, V Strand, and P Tugwell) for their support in the establishment of an MRI outcomes group and their continuous encouragement during the development of RAMRIS and this atlas. The skilful assistance of photographer S Østergaard is also greatly appreciated. Finally, we would like to acknowledge all our colleagues and friends listed as authors on the following pages who have willingly shared their knowledge, their time, and their commitment to MRI outcome development since 1998.
