We thank Gonzales-Gay, et al for their interest in our article1. Their letter reinforces our conclusions and further elaborates on the subject.
The data regarding the prevalence of atherosclerosis in psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is still sparse. However, several recent reports, immediately before and since the publication of our study, have concurred with our results by finding an increased prevalence of subclinical atherosclerosis, determined by ultrasound of the carotid arteries, in patients with PsA2,3. These findings support the notion that atherosclerosis is indeed more prevalent in PsA.
