Lead accumulation in tidemark of articular cartilage
2006, Osteoarthritis and CartilageCitation Excerpt :Duplication of the tidemark, which can be observed in osteoarthritis33, is seen as evidence for this advancement. The tidemark can be labeled with tetracycline22 and can be stained by dyes that stain basophilic substance and lipids34, or by enzymes such as ATPase and alkaline phosphatase35. The high specificity and reproducibility of Pb accumulation in adult articular cartilage led us to believe that this could be a general phenomenon.
