We summarize here results of the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) US working group (WG) projects of the last 2 years. These results were reported at the OMERACT 12 meeting at the plenary session and discussed during breakout sessions. Topics included standardization of US use in rheumatic disease over the last decade and its contribution to understanding musculoskeletal diseases. This is the first update report of WG activities in validating US as an outcome measure in musculoskeletal inflammatory and degenerative diseases, including pediatric arthritis, since the OMERACT 11 meeting.
