The authors are well-known for their work in the field and this study adds significantly to the existing literature. The article suggests a significantly declining incidence of cardiovascular (CV)- and coronary heart disease-related deaths in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) over 3 consecutive decades, with the major change occurring in the early 2000s. They also report a decline in CV disease mortality for the RA group to a level equivalent with the non-RA comparison group.
